Virtual Trek Awards

Well, the first ever Virtual Trek Awards are in the books, and what a night it was. Henrik, the host and producer of the show (and the excellent VST podcasts) did a wonderful job and making the evening very enjoyable.

So the question everyone wants to know: how did Frontiers do? The answer: extremely well. We picked up six out of the eight awards we were nominated for. Those awards include:

- Best Male Character: Commander Bruce Andrade
- Best Artist: Paul Weaver
- Best New Writer: Jaron Hatch
- Best Episode: All the World's a Stage
- Best Stand-alone Episode: All the World's a Stage
- Best Multi-Authored Series

That's quite a list. I'm extremely proud of the Frontiers team - this is their moment. (The two "Episode" awards were ties with eps from Star's End.)

So what's going to change now that these are over with? Nothing. The recognition is very nice, and I can't overstate how grateful I am for the staff's work. But letting something like this become too big a deal can inadvertantly prompt changes in behavior. But our focus as a staff remains to producing quality Star Trek stories and that is where our focus remains.

So, going off-topic now, I watched the series finale of Charmed last night. I was quite pleased. It wasn't the big, epic send-off I had hoped for (despite the gargantuan battle in the week prior to) but it was touching and truly got back to the girls being sisters... being family. No, we didn't see Cole or Prue... but we saw an enjoyable romp through the Charmed Ones' past and future, and a touching, fitting finale.

That's all for now. Stop by the Frontiers forums to get some movie script excerpts and see another guest star for the film. Until next time!
