That Darn Movie, Spider-man 3, and more...
If you're one of the two people who haven't seen the teaser for Spider-man 3, go to Apple.com right now and watch it. Seriously.
I haven't been this excited about a movie release that's so far off in years. Maybe not ever. The scope and magnitude of the film's story is impressive, and despite the inclusion of multiple villains it is still very much Peter Park's story. No worries about BSS ("Batman Sequel Syndrome") here - Spider-man 3 looks amazing. Up until I saw that teaser, I had really been looking forward to seeing Superman Returns tomorrow with my son. Now all I can think about is how fantastic Spider-man 3 looks, and I eagerly await seeing the teaser on the big screen tomorrow prior to Superman Returns. Amazing how swiftly Mister Raimi has stolen the Man of Steel's thunder. And the funny thing is, I wasn't a big Spider-man fan growing up. I enjoyed the cartoon but I never read the comic books and didn't know much about the mythos until the first movie. That sparked my interest in the comics and the original storylines. I'm by no means a Spidey master, but I can hold my own amongst the trivia buffs.
Speaking of movies, I'm sure there are many questions about the Frontiers movie. Most of them being, "Where the heck is it?"
Time to fess up - for most of June, I have been struggling with the script. It just wasn't coming together, and no matter how hard I glared at my screen or yelled at my keyboard, I couldn't make it work. The story elements were there, but they weren't gelling properly.
But last week, that intangible something that was missing seemed to fall in place, and now script pages are dropping like flies. I can promise a bit of romance, a lot of action, and some surprising revelations.
Some fun details about the film (avoid if you don't want spoilers):
- We get a look at Bruce's summer home
- We have visits from several recurring characters, one of whom might not make it out
- A certain captain gets a ship of her own
- Bruce, Salea, Kaol... big problems on the horizon...
- We run into not one, but two El-Aurians
- Waterworld (no, not the Kevin Costner movie...)
So, there you have it. We've also got a few titles in the works. You can bet the title will be announced here or on the forums as soon as the call is made.
